January finishers…

So a mix of products this month as I am still swapping over to more natural products as I finish the ones I already have:

The first empty is Ps.. super blends pomegranate, green tea and cranberry colour protect conditioner from Primark.

It smells nice and is quite a thick conditioner but leaves my hair nice and soft. It isn’t as natural as the packaging suggests though so check ingredients before you buy.

Next up is the original source vanilla and raspberry shower gel vegan & cruelty free (bonus points) 100% natural fragrance, this is one of my favourite shower gels and it smells amazing! A really creamy raspberry scent and it foams really well too.

Garnier skin active micellar cleansing water paraben free. This was a free sample and it cleanses well and even removed my waterproof mascara which is normally a nightmare to take off. Packaging is unclear on the amount of natural ingredients used.

Sand and sky purifying pink clay mask, this clay is amazing! see my review here

Kebelo clarifying shampoo, another sample but I use this after I have been swimming and it gets rid of the smell of chlorine from my hair.

Rituals ayurveda foaming shower gel, no parabens. A lot of people rave about this but I prefer sweeter scents for a shower gel. It’s nice if you want a subtle scent though and the foam is great!

Nip+fab ( cruelty free+ vegan)kale fix soften moisturiser, currently my go to moisturiser in the evening if my skin is feeling quite dry. It is a thick moisturiser but it soaks in quickly and smells nice.

Nip+fab (cruelty free+ vegan) glycolic fix daily cleansing pads. This have a really good amount of cleanser on the pads and make my skin so soft! I use cleansing water first to remove makeup and then use these.

Get in touch if you use any of these and let me know what you think of them! Thanks for reading 🙂

Mission foundation

I’m on a bit of a mission to find a new foundation, I have combination skin that’s fair in winter and tanned in summer so I have to switch quite regularly!

This month I have tried a mix of foundations. Most are matt or a soft matte as I am not a big fan of shiny patches.

1) First up is the maybelline dream velvet 21 nude with a soft matte finish. This applies well with an applicator sponge but I have found it does oxidate over the day and turns a little orange. Good coverage though and not shiny so a plus. I think this was around £5.

2) The second one I tried was the naturally matt foundation from collection, again it applies easily with a sponge but you need to use a lot more for a good coverage. It lasts all day though and doesn’t turn orange. This is my favourite so far and costs around £5.

3) Next up is the coverage foundation by the ordinary. It’s high coverage and a little goes a long way. I found it was quite thick when applying and not as matte as I wanted so I put a translucent powder over the top which seemed to do the trick. I bought this online and was around £6.

4) Maybelline dream satin liquid, I’ve been eyeing this up for a while now and thought I would give it a go as it was on offer. I like that it has spf too and a hydrating serum. I applied this with a brush and it was really smooth to apply. I set it with a translucent powder though. It stayed all day and I was pretty impressed. This one is probably not the one I would use daily but would be great for wearing for a nice occasion.

5) The next one I tried was the cheapest one from Asdas own George collection. The packaging looked nice and for less than £5 I thought I would give it a go!

I was pretty amazed at the quality of it as I wasn’t expecting it to be as good. Easy to apply with a natural finish so no powder needed and it also has spf too. No caking or flakiness after wearing for a whole day either! Good as a daily foundation and a decent size to fit in your hand bag for touch ups if needed in the day.

Overall I think my favourite from these 5 actually asdas own! I am still on the hunt for the perfect one though so let me know if you have any suggestions…

Pink parcel box review

Pink parcel box is a subscription box that is tailored to you each month to provide all your sanitary products and pamper you for “that” time of the month.

I was a little bit sceptical that it would be able to fit enough sanitary products and a load of goodies into a letterbox size parcel!

But I was very nicely surprised! It was well packaged and neatly presented when it arrived …

I opened it up to reveal more neatly packed boxes, some coupons and an info leaflet..

I opened the box that said ‘for you’ first and inside it was full to the brim of products. A mix of hair, beauty, home and food.

Inside this little bag was some lovely fabric hair ties

Underneath was a real range of products…

A laritzy black eyeliner

Peppermint infusion tea

Chilli and lime dark chocolate by montezuma – I like dark chocolate but haven’t tried this one so looking forward to it

Coppers happy mist which is a room scent and has a lovely fresh scent.

Browcote waterproof eyebrow gel , again something I have not tried so will see …

Vegan chocolate protein shake by vega, probably one of my favourite things out of this box, it’s vegan, plant based and all natural!

Inside this pouch below was liners and tampons..

This photo shows all of the sanitary products included in the box, plenty!

Overall I have to say I will be ordering this again as it has the perfect mix of practical and pampering products!

Get your glow on mask review

Get your glow on brightening papaya and citrus peel off mask is one of the items from my January sale haul! It is available online and in a lot of shops. RRP varies but around £10

It is made from natural ingredients that boost your skins radiance and it is meant to revitalise tired skin in minutes!

When I opened the tube it smelt really refreshing and summery so would be a good product to use in the morning or to re-energise after a long day.

So I put it to the test:

Because it is a peel off mask it helps to unclog pores and get rid of breakouts so I used it before my moisturizing routine in the evening.

It’s easy to apply, just squeeze the tube and apply with a brush or your fingers. It comes out as a thick clear gel but spreads fairly easily.

I left it on for around 20 mins and the mask had gone from a wet gel to a dry mask.

It doesn’t hurt to peel off but I did it in stages as it didn’t all come off together! You can apply as much as you want so I might do a slightly thicker layer next time and see if it is easier to peel off, I put the mask on the areas that I wanted to unclog so my nose, chin and forehead but you can use it as a full face mask if you want.

Overall for the price of the mask I think this is going to be something I will definitely keep in my routine.

Thanks for reading and let me know if you like it too!

Powder box review

So I subscribed to powder box for 6 months after finding a pretty decent discount on Groupon and thought I would give it a try. £39 plus postage so the boxes work out at just under £9 a box including p&p!

This is slightly different to the normal subscription as the first few boxes you receive with the deal are last years ones and then you recieve the most recent ones after. So it does catch up eventually!

The box came quickly after subscribing and the packaging was a lovely pale pink. I was very excited to open it as I have heard some good reviews on this box!

I opened the drawer and the box was packed to the top full of goodies!

The leaflet said it was the August 2017 box and it contained some money off coupons and a little bit of info for each product. I actually read this after as I wanted a surprise when I looked through the products.

This photo shows the things that came in the box and you can see there is a range of face and body products. Most brands I recognised so that was good.

The nip+fab serum is one of the things I have been looking at buying as a full size item this month so to have this sample come through to try was good timing! RRP £18

This Rodial Glamolash mascara xxl mascara is little but makes my eyelashes so long! It’s easy to apply and doesn’t flake off over the day like some other brands do. Full size £24.

I actually hadn’t used any of this brand before but now I have tried it I will be looking to find more. It’s a multi purpose product. I have used it as a moisturiser so far but you can use it as a mask or even a primer if you wanted to. It made my skin feel soft after using it and doesn’t leave a greasy feeling. This was a sample size and the full size is £35

Full size Ciate Wonderwand is a 2 in 1 gel kohl eyeliner and has an eyeliner brush at the other end. It is good to create the Smokey eye look and lasts quite a long time. RRP £7.50

RRP £5 can’t wait to try this one and relax in the bath with it on, full of multivitamins and also has hyaluronic acid.

And the added extra was these bic soleil scent razors. A nice touch to have something a little bit different included in the box!

Overall I am pretty impressed with my first box and I am looking forward to getting my next one.

A vegan facial superfood oil not to miss!

This vegan friendly Dr botanicals Moroccan rose superfood facial oil is a light weight oil that is infused with vitamins to give you a brighter and more even skin tone.

It’s full of antioxidants and moisturising properties to help keep skin protected and hydrated.

I don’t normally use facial oils but when I opened this, just the scent alone convinced me to try it!

The packaging has a very natural look which fits well with the product.

The pale pink oil has a gorgeous rose scent that is subtle so is fine to use with other scented products.

I used it to do a mini facial and massaged it around my forehead, cheek bones and around my eyes (not on eyelids).

The rose oil soaked in quite quickly and didn’t leave a shiny residue at all so you can apply as much as you need.

It’s easy to apply using the pipette and the suggested use is to apply 2-3 drops onto cleansed skin.

Check it out here.

Thanks for reading and let me know what you use it for!

Sakura silk hand creams

These hand creams caught my eye in the shop because of their gorgeous, bright and colourful packaging and the added bonus of being paraban and sulphate free!

They are enriched with Shea Butter, Vitamin Green Tea, Jasmine, Cedar wood and combined with fragrant essential oils of Lemon, Lime and Sweet Orange and these gave a really refreshing smell when I opened the creams.

Each hand cream is the perfect size to fit into a handbag and they give a spa like smell and feel when used so if you are looking for a pampering treat or gift, I would recommend giving these a try!

Apicia pollen blush

This is an item I received in the Glossybox subscription box this month and it is not just a blusher!

The Apicia blush made in Paris with natural ingredients contains organic bee pollen that will nourish your skin and not just on your cheeks, you can use this creamy rose colour on your eyes and lips too.

If you want that added depth of colour you can even layer it up. It’s essy to apply and blends easily and I have a feeling this may soon become one of my make up bag essentials..

Sand&Sky Pink clay mask

This is currently my favourite face mask!

This gorgeous Australian mask made with all natural and organic ingredients is easy to apply with your fingertips or a brush. It gradually dries over 10-15 mins and you wash off with warm water.

I can definitely say that it does what it says on the packaging:

Detox: draws out impurities, toxins and pollutants

Invigorates: regenerates skin cells and gently removes pigment clusters.

Refines: tightens pores and stimulates collagen production

Brightens: helps protect the skin from damage

And don’t need a lot of clay for each application a pot lasts ages!

I find after using it my skin feels so soft and clear and I now use it once a week as I have really noticed a difference in my skin.

Glossy box vs birch box

I have had glossy box for the last 2 months and I am still undecided if it is the right box for me.

Although these are full size products compared to birchbox where I tend to use the majority of the products sent I seem to have 1 or 2 products from glossybox that end up sat on my dresser that I probably won’t ever use.

I am going to keep going with my subscription for a couple more months and see if I change my mind as the products that I have used from the box have been great!

The subscription works in a fairly similar way to birch box, monthly subs and fill out an online profile so they match products to your skin tone and hair etc. This means the products sent to you are more likely to suit you.

Unlike birchbox, glossybox doesn’t currently have an app to use but the website is fairly easy to use.

Check it out here.

Packaging is pretty and the boxes look lovely if you use them to store makeup or as gift boxes and are slightly larger than the Birchboxes.

Overall I think birchbox is currently my favourite but glossybox still had time to win me over!
